Imbros Gorge tour is within a small canyon 11 km long ,located in the hard of a mountain region, an area with a rough unspoiled rocky terrain full of thyme , malotira (a local herbal tea ) and mountain herbs . The 8klm Gorge is located on the Southeast part of Chania in the province of Sfakia on the foothills of the White Mountains
The breathtaking Imbros Gorge is the second most popular gorge for nature lovers in Crete after Samaria Gorge.. This picturesque gorge is easily accessible all year round and its ideal for beginners and families.
The entrance of the gorge is on the outskirts of the small village of Imbros. The gorge runs parallel to Samaria Gorge and its exit is at the village of Kommitades.
Imbros gorge was the escape route for thousands of allied troops retreating from the north of the island. During the period of the battle of Crete in 1941 the troops headed for Chora Sfakion to be evacuated by Royal Navy ships.
Imbros Gorge tour walking time is approximately 2.30-3.00 hours and during your descent you will be walking through beautiful locations such as the Stenada, Mesofarango and Xepitira Arch.
At the end of the walk our bus is waiting for you at the exit of the gorge in Komitades Village to take you to the sea side village of Chora Sfakion, the largest village of the region. This will give you the opportunity for a refreshing swim on the crystal clear waters of Lybian Sea and free time to relax and sunbathe on the pebbly beach of Chora Sfakion.
After the refreshing dip in the Lybian Sea we finish our day having lunch in one of the local tavernas tasting traditional recipes and reward ourselves with a class of RAKI.
Our tour day finishes at about 19.00 hours dropping our passengers all the way from Chania to Platanias, Maleme ,Kolymbari.
