In our guided Knossos Palace tour from Chania, we start our day at 7.00 o’clock in the morning from Kolimbari heading east towards the city of Heraklion and the Palace of Knossos . After about 90 minutes we have a small coffee brake right outside the city of Rethymno overlooking the Aegean Sea and we reach Knossos and the Palace at approximately 10.00 o’clock. Our official guide is waiting for us and we start our walking guided tour at the Palace straight away.
The guided tour lasts about two hours and it is performed by an official tour guide, giving you very detailed and interesting information regarding the Palace itself, the stories and the myths of King Minos and its family, giving you the opportunity at the same time to travel back in it’s 3000 years of glorious history.
Our Knossos Palace Tour will bring you between imposing palaces and ancient myths of the Minoan civilization, you will be wandering around in the ruins of a complex of more than 1500 interlocking rooms, once an astonishing palace built for the mighty king Minos and it is considered to be Europe’s oldest city and the birth place of the Western Civilization.
As you wander through the imposing labyrinth ruins, get the chance to see the original throne of ‘’Minos”, the mystifying sanctuaries, the luxurious domestic quarters of the royal family, Crete’s treasures pantries, and the water-management systems.
You can find satisfaction admiring arts and crafts of the Minoan civilization unique in the world.
At the end of Knossos Palace tour, our bus will take you to Heraclion city center, where you have the opportunity to visit and admire the treasures of the Palace, at the Archaeological Museum of Heraclion or explore the city center of Crete’s largest city. Your free time in Heraclion city center for visiting the museum shopping and lunch, is approximately 3 hours
On our way back to Chania we stop in the outskirts of Heraklion for a coffee brake and snacks and we are back in Chania at approximately 19.30-20.00 hours.
